This is the fourth time Yrius casts Beacon, this time quite unconventionally. It's normally a defensive miracle, a ward, but Yrius is getting desperate at this point, and finally we can see what close proximity to Beacon does to a shadow. I'll remind of previous uses just in case:
"This is Beacon. ...for monsters it burns even to look at it". (III-2)
"My Beacon will keep them away from you". (IV-4)
"It can't hurt me anymore". (VI-6)
